Privacy Policy
Your songs and words stay yours.
Last updated September 29, 2026
This policy explains what the Melodict app for iPhone and Android and this website collect, why, and what you can do about it. If anything is unclear, email cem-ergin@outlook.com.
The short version
- Melodict has no ads and does not track you across other apps or websites.
- Your songs, uploaded music and vocabulary are stored on your phone and, on iPhone, in your own iCloud.
- Music you upload is transcribed on your phone and is never sent to us.
- When you create a song, your description, lyrics and chosen words are sent to our song service to make it.
- Usage analytics help us improve the app. You can turn them off in Settings.
- An account is optional on iPhone and needed on Android to create songs. You can delete it in Settings at any time.
What stays on your device
Your song library, lyrics, vocabulary, word ratings, flashcard progress and stats are stored on your phone. On iPhone, if iCloud is turned on, they sync through your own iCloud account, which Apple operates and we cannot read. Audio you upload is transcribed on your phone. Translations are made on your phone with language models downloaded from Google; the text you translate is not sent to us.
What we collect and why
Song creation
When you create a song, the app sends your description, any lyrics you wrote and the words you chose to our server, which forwards them to ElevenLabs to generate the music. We use this only to make your song. Our server keeps a record of the credits each song used (your user ID, the number of credits and the time), so credits can be charged and refunded correctly. It does not store your descriptions or lyrics.
Purchases and credits
Payments are handled by Apple on iPhone and by Google Play on Android. We use RevenueCat to check subscriptions and keep your credit balance, which involves an app user ID and your purchase history. We never see your payment details.
Account
If you sign in with Apple or Google, Firebase Authentication (Google) creates an account so your purchases and credits can follow you to a new phone. On iPhone an account is optional. On Android, you sign in with Google before creating a song. Sign in with Apple does not share your name or email with us. Sign in with Google shares your name and email address.
Usage analytics
With usage analytics on, the app sends events about how it is used, such as which screens you open, which features you use and errors that happen, to Firebase Analytics (Google) and PostHog (hosted in the EU). These events carry an app instance ID and, if you are signed in, your user ID. You can turn usage analytics off in Settings → Privacy & about → Usage analytics. Turning it off stops both services from collecting anything more.
Who processes your data
- Apple: App Store purchases, Sign in with Apple and iCloud sync.
- Google Play: purchases on Android.
- Google (Firebase): sign-in and usage analytics.
- PostHog: usage analytics, hosted in the EU.
- RevenueCat: subscriptions and credit balances.
- ElevenLabs: generating songs from your description and lyrics.
- Cloudflare: runs our song server.
Each of these handles data under its own privacy policy. We do not sell your data or share it for advertising.
How long we keep it
Data on your device and in iCloud stays until you delete it or the app. Credit records are kept as long as your account or app user ID is in use. Analytics data is kept by Firebase and PostHog under their retention settings and then deleted.
Your choices
- Turn off usage analytics in Settings → Privacy & about.
- Sign out, or delete your account, in Settings → Account. Deleting your account removes it from Firebase.
- To ask for a copy of your data, or for us to delete analytics or purchase records, emailcem-ergin@outlook.com.
Delete your Melodict account
You can delete your Melodict account and its data in either of these ways:
- In the app, open Settings → Account → Delete account and confirm.
- Or email cem-ergin@outlook.com from the address you signed in with and ask us to delete your account.
Deleting your account removes it from Firebase right away, including the name and email address that came from Google. Purchase records at RevenueCat and credit records on our server (your user ID, the credits used and the time) stay until you ask us by email to delete them. Analytics data is deleted by Firebase and PostHog under their retention settings. Songs and vocabulary on your phone are not touched; delete the app to remove them.
This website
This website uses no cookies. It counts page visits with PostHog (hosted in the EU), without storing anything in your browser or identifying you. It loads its fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser contacts Google when you open it.
Children
Melodict is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you think a child has given us personal data, email us and we will delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update it here and change the date at the top.
